Finance automation & AI-enabled FP&A

Finance Automation & AI-Enabled FP&A

Finviq helps growing businesses reduce repetitive finance work and produce faster, more consistent reporting and analysis through intelligent automation — designed, reviewed and interpreted by senior finance professionals.

The problem: finance capacity goes into preparation, not analysis

In most growing businesses the monthly reporting cycle is not slow because the team lacks skill. It is slow because a large share of qualified finance time is spent assembling information rather than interpreting it. The work is necessary, repetitive and fragile — and it repeats every single period.

Automation is worth considering wherever the same steps are performed the same way each month. The objective is not headcount reduction. It is redirecting experienced finance capacity toward the analysis and decision support that only a person can provide.

  • Downloading and exporting data from the ERP and other systems.
  • Cleaning, mapping and reconciling files before analysis can start.
  • Combining reports from several sources into one view.
  • Refreshing spreadsheets and repairing links that broke since last month.
  • Updating the management pack layout and figures by hand.
  • Preparing the same recurring variance analysis each period.
  • Writing first-draft commentary from scratch every cycle.
  • Collecting forecast inputs from budget holders and consolidating them manually.
  • Rebuilding recurring reports because the previous version cannot be reused.

What Finviq automates

Finviq works on the recurring analytical processes that sit between your source systems and the management conversation. The scope is defined by what repeats, what is error-prone and what delays decisions — not by what is technically possible.

  • Financial reporting workflows, from source extract to finished output.
  • Management reporting and the recurring monthly pack.
  • Data preparation, mapping and transformation.
  • Recurring report refreshes on a defined schedule.
  • Variance-analysis workflows, including exception thresholds.
  • Forecast collection and consolidation across contributors.
  • Management-pack preparation and assembly.
  • KPI reporting and scorecard updates.
  • Financial data transformations across multiple systems.
  • Other recurring analytical processes identified during the assessment.

AI-enabled FP&A — and where the human stays

Modern AI tools are genuinely useful inside an FP&A process. Used carefully, they shorten preparation, surface things worth looking at, and remove the blank page from recurring written work.

  • Analytical preparation — structuring and summarising data before review.
  • Identifying unusual movements and outliers worth investigating.
  • Structuring variance analysis into a consistent, comparable format.
  • Drafting first-pass commentary for a finance professional to correct and complete.
  • Preparing scenario inputs and assumption documentation.
  • Research and background gathering.
  • Documenting processes, definitions and calculation logic.
  • Executing recurring workflow steps on a defined trigger.

Technology assists. Judgment decides.

Every AI-assisted output in a Finviq engagement is reviewed by a senior finance professional before it reaches management. Automation and AI handle preparation and repetition; the interpretation, the numbers management relies on, and the recommended action remain a professional judgment.

Finviq does not deploy tools that make financial decisions, approve figures or issue commentary without review. If an output cannot be explained and defended by a person, it does not go into a management pack.

How Finviq approaches automation

  • Assess — identify the repetitive finance activities, how often they run, how long they take and where they break.
  • Design — redesign the workflow before automating it. We do not automate a bad process simply because it can be automated.
  • Automate — build the workflow using the appropriate technology for your systems and your team's ability to maintain it.
  • Control — build in review points, reconciliation, documentation and financial oversight so the output stays trustworthy.

Systems-agnostic by design

Finviq works with the systems you already run. There is no platform to buy from us and no migration to complete before the work can start. Depending on your environment, an engagement may use Excel, Power Query, Power BI, the Microsoft Power Platform, AI-enabled productivity tools, ERP exports, cloud collaboration tools or other appropriate finance technology.

Tooling choices are made on fit and maintainability. Finviq is an independent consultancy and does not hold formal partnerships with software or AI vendors.

Who this is for

  • Recurring reporting is highly manual and consumes most of the close window.
  • Analysts spend more time preparing data than analysing it.
  • Management reporting takes too long to reach the leadership meeting.
  • Spreadsheet processes are difficult to maintain and depend on one person.
  • Forecasting requires significant manual consolidation each cycle.
  • Financial information sits across multiple systems that do not reconcile easily.
  • Management wants faster financial visibility without lowering the quality of the analysis.
